Turtlehead 'Hot Lips' - Chelone lyonii

Chelone lyonii, or turtlehead, fits right into a native woodland garden, a partially shaded, moist location, or bog garden. On this variety, pink flowers emerge from stalks on top of the branches in late summer, and give extra color to a garden that may be tiring from summer's heat. Butterflies also enjoy the flowers. Vigorous but not invasive, the plant spreads by underground rhizomes and forms a nice clump 2 to 4-feet wide once established.
