Red Sage Danshen - Salvia miltiorrhiza

A medicinal sage, Salvia miltiorrhiza is a perennial herb with a very attractive blue/purple bloom, similar to the culinary sage. The red dried root of this plant is used in traditional Chinese medicine. It attracts hummingbirds as well as bees, and seems to handle summer heat quite well, and flowers over a long period. It's also pretty easy to care for, requiring moderate watering and partial to full sun.
