Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) is an aromatic tropical grass that has a lemon smell when crushed. It is frequently used in cooking, as well as an ingredient in herbal medicines and insect repellents. The plant grows much like other tall grasses and forms a dense clump of stalks that can be harvested when they are about a half-inch wide. It cannot tolerate below freezing weather, but is quite happy in a pot and grown indoors with enough light.
