Hibiscus paramutabilis - Shanghai Pink
Hibiscus paramutabilis - Shanghai Pink
Hibiscus paramutabilis is closely related to hibiscus syriacus (Rose of Sharon) and has some similar qualities to it. Paramutabilis forms an open woody small tree or bush, and blooms profusely during early to mid-summer. It is generally larger, however. Leaves, flowers, and plant height are all a little larger. This variety has light pink blooms with a red/dark pink eye. My plant bloomed for over a month, and required little care once established. Pests and diseases were minimal, and it can handle much the same weather conditions as any hardy hibiscus. The leaves are fuzzy and pleasant, and they turn a nice bright yellow in fall. Also called: False Confederate Hardy Mallow, Ever-blooming Confederate Rose
