Lemon bush eucalyptus is an aromatic powerhouse, giving off a strong lemony smell when you crush the leaves. Some people like to use this plant to repel mosquitos, but if you're anything like me, nothing short of a flamethrower will really do the job. This plant is cold-hardy in zones 9-11, but performs admirably in a pot, and can be taken in the house during winter. In the ground, it can grow to be a large tree (50'+), but in a pot it will only manage a few feet. Also called: Eucalyptus citriodora, Lemon-scented gum

Cold hardiness: zone 9-11
