Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa) is hardy native that pollinators love. Topped with bright orange flowers in spring and early summer, it attracts hummingbirds, bees, as well as, you guessed it, butterflies. As a milkweed, it is a host plant for the monarch butterfly and it's leaves provide food for the monarch larva. It is heat and drought resistant once established, and makes a great perennial for your native animal-friendly flower garden.
