Tall spikes of small purple flowers top blazing star (Liatris) in late summer and early fall, so of course it is a great attractor of bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. A prairie native, blazing star is tough; drought-tolerant and deer-resistant. I found this specimen growing wild along a dry roadside, so I am unsure of the exact variety, although I am sure it can mostly take care of itself.
